In Fear I Trust Review

Anyone who is a regular “customer” on my site knows that I love adventure and room escape games that incorporate the ability to solve puzzles.
Do you see those games that have a scary atmosphere and a story that can get you out of the chair? That’s how I get exactly with Chillingo’s “In Fear I Trust.” The question remains: is it up to your name and the exaggeration, being an App Store Editor’s Choice? That’s what we’ll see.

Speaking of controls: Many have complaints, but they do not really bother me. The main controls are also dual joysticks, which serve to move and look around you, you can also touch the floor to move, and slide the screen around you.
My only complaint is that the double sticks do not disappear once you take your fingers off the screen.
As for movement, yes, you move slowly but the space is huge, so it is not a concern. In addition to the double sticks, you access your inventory by jumping two thumbs up and get rid of it by sliding both thumbs back. You can also examine each item, pinch and drag to enlarge and rotate. The control scheme worked quite well, but I would not mind some tweaking. Regarding the graphics, it’s all done in 3D, using the Unreal Engine, and is a free-roam game, the games are well accepted. The graphics are good enough, because the game is dark and sad, so if there are one or two flaws, you will not notice. Some scenes are even scary, and with the ghostly apparitions, only added a nice touch. Overall, it deserves a positive note, no complaints there. All these graphics make you want to play in the dark, and in your bed.

Speaking of puzzles, this is where the game has a few hits and mistakes, and where those familiar with adventure games can use the click to find items and add items to inventory, and unraveling puzzles little by little. A very interesting aspect of this game is the Retrospective View, which is like a sixth sense that allows us to see things that are not visible to the eye. There is a time limit for you to use an RV, meaning the character starts to lose his breath if you use it too much.
The RV is crucial to the game because you get to get used to the functionality over time. Many of the puzzles can only be resolved with the presence of the RV. It’s a very interesting concept.
As for the aspects that did not please me at all, it was the fact that certain puzzles were inspired by “The Room”.

Casual gamers may appreciate it, but longtime fans may miss the old school inventory bag where you need to use logic to figure out which items to use. This game removes that aspect because it only shows the items you need to use in each puzzle, and this is totally a way to fool the player. In this type of games, the important thing is not to notice at first what items you need to use, and gradually unraveling.
Still, there are many good puzzles in the game, some easier than others, and ones that require more thought and effort than others. I hope that for future episodes more complex puzzles will emerge.

Lastly, we must not forget to mention the audio. The soundtrack is great, and the music and sound effects, as well as the voice acting, will create the ideal atmosphere for a psychological thriller. It is recommended to play with headphones, especially if you have noise around you. I can not tell you how amazing the audio in this game is. It also adds a bit to the unfolding of the story (which is also told through diaries found, newspaper cuts and other notes as well as cutscenes). If this is something that matters to you, you definitely want to try.

Now comes the downside, and I may have liked the game a lot, but it itself is full of bugs at the moment. If you are willing to use iFunbox to avoid much frustration and if you want to make manual backups. If you are not willing to go through this type of effort, I suggest waiting until the next update is released with some bug fixes. Developers are also adding three more episodes for free, so it’s definitely worth the $ 2.99.
One last thing to keep in mind is the space of the game since it occupies almost 3 GB. The good news is that if you have iFunbox, you can backup your progress until the next chapter is released, so you do not lose anything.
